Purpose

Reporting to the Executive for Legal Services and Company Secretary / Chief Executive Officer, the Legal Services & Company Secretary Practitioner is responsible for providing effective first-line legal advisory, contract management, and company secretarial support to MBDA. The incumbent works under the direction of the Company Secretary to ensure that the MBDA's company secretarial obligations, legal compliance, commercial and supply chain contract management, and corporate governance responsibilities are professionally executed. (Three Month Fixed Term Contract)
Required Minimum Education and Training
Minimum Requirements:
- LLB degree (NQF 8) – minimum requirement
- Admission as an attorney will be advantageous
- Additional qualification in Corporate Governance, Company Secretarial Practice, or Compliance will be an advantage
Technical Competencies:
- Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA)
- Municipal Systems Act (MSA)
- Companies Act (2008) and King IV Report on Corporate Governance
- POPIA, PAIA, and applicable data protection legislation
- Contract law, commercial law, and supply chain agreement principles
- National Treasury guidelines and circulars
- All other relevant legislation applicable to municipal entities
Required Minimum Work Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in a legal, company secretary, or compliance environment
- Experience in a law firm, state entity, or private organisation
- Demonstrated experience in contract drafting, review, and commercial agreement management
- Experience providing first-line legal support on litigation matters
